MLS: Orlando City’s Michel Scores in 1-1 Draw Against Atlanta United

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City SC (4-2-4, 16 points) earned a 1-1 draw on Saturday night against Atlanta United (3-4-2, 11 points) at Exploria Stadium.

Benji Michel scored the lone goal for the Lions in the match.

“Good match. In spite of the frustration of conceding that goal in the last two, three minutes of the game knowing how we worked for the three points during the whole game; it’s difficult. But at the same time, I think we need to have calmness and see where we are,” said Orlando Head Coach Oscar Pareja

City took the lead just before halftime, with Daryl Dike getting a shot off following a City corner toward the right corner of the net. Michel was there to tap it in to ensure the lead for the Lions going into the break.

The visitors leveled late with Adam Jahn getting his head on a cross from Jake Mulraney for the equalizer.

The Lions close out their Phase 1 Continuation of Play schedule on Saturday, Sept. 12, hosting Inter Miami CF at Exploria Stadium for the first time.

Match Notes: Michel scored his second goal in as many contests for the Lions, registering a goal contribution for the third match in a row….Dike earned his third assist of the year on Michel’s goal in first half stoppage time, now tied with Chris Mueller and Mauricio Pereyra for the team lead.
Uri Rosell made his 50th appearance as a Lion in the match…with the draw the Lions extended their unbeaten streak to four matches.
