HOCKEY NOTES: ECHL Players of the Week; Icemen Make Roster Moves

Hunter Miska of the Utah Grizzlies is the ECHL Goaltender of the Week.

Miska went 2-0-0 with a 0.95 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage in a pair of overtime wins against Orlando last week.The 24-year-old stopped 29 shots in a 2-1 win on Friday and made 25 saves in another 2-1 victory on Saturday

Under contract to Colorado of the American Hockey League, Miska has appeared in three games for Utah, going 2-1-0 with a 1.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .947. He also has seen action in six games for Colorado where he is 3-2-0 with one shutout, a 1.95 goals-against average and a save percentage of .941.

A native of North Branch, Minnesota, Miska has posted an overall record of 35-19-4 in 67 career AHL games with Colorado and Tucson with two shutouts, a 2.73 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903. He also has appeared in one National Hockey League game with Arizona.

Ralph Cuddemi of the Reading Royals is the ECHL Player of the Week. Cuddemi scored six goals – including two game-winning tallies – and added one assist for seven points in three games against Newfoundland last week.

The 26-year-old had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win on Friday, added a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday and tied a club record with four goals in a 7-2 victory on Sunday.

A native of Concord, Ontario, Cuddemi leads the ECHL with 16 goals and 28 points in 19 games this season.

Cuddemi has recorded 199 points (100g-99a) in 231 career ECHL games with Reading, Wichita, Fort Wayne, Utah and Florida.

Prior to turning pro, Cuddemi tallied 123 points (61g-62a) in 154 career games at Canisius College.

FORTIER REASSIGNED: The Jacksonville Icemen announced that the Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL) have reassigned forward Maxime Fortier to the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Fortier, 21, heads to Cleveland after logging seven points (2g, 5a) in 12 games played with the Icemen this season. Last year, Fortier posted 25 points (12g, 13a) in 24 regular season appearances with Jacksonville, while also recording seven points in six postseason contests last spring.

The 5-10, 184-pound winger registered five points (1g, 4a) in 20 AHL games with Cleveland last season.

The Montreal, Quebec native finished a productive career with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) totaling 270 points (104g, 166a) in 263 career games from 2013-2018.

Fortier is currently under contract with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jacksonville has acquired forward Craig Martin from the Adirondack Thunder in exchange for forward James Phelan.

Martin, 24, joins the Icemen after posting a goal and an assist in seven games played with the Thunder this season. The 6-1, 182-pound rookie forward totaled 75 points (27g, 48a) in 134 games during his four collegiate seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2015-2019. The Trail, BC native won an ECAC title with Quinnipiac in 2016.

Phelan heads to Adirondack after recording two points in 12 games played with the Icemen this season.

The Icemen return home to play host to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m
