NFL: Following Bye, Jaguars Playoff Run Begins with a Thud

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts improved to 6-4 with a convincing 33-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-6) at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Indianapolis defense held the Jaguars to 29 net rushing yards, including a season-low 23 rushing yards from Leonard Fournette.

Indy QB Jacoby Brissett completed 15-of-24 passes for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

He also rushed for a five-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Colts a 24-7 advantage.

Running back Jonathan Williams led the Colts with a career-high 116 rushing yards. It was the first 100-yard rushing performance of his career.

Colts had run the ball 36 times for 264 yards — an average of 7.3 yards per carry — which was the 12th-highest total in team history and their most since 2004.

Jacksonville QB Nick Foles completed 33 of 47 passes for 296 yards, two TDs and one pick, his first of the year.

In only his second game after getting injured in the opener against Kansas City, Foles has throw for 371 yards, three TDs and one interception.

Receiver DJ Chark Jr. caught eight passes for 104 yards and two TDs including one giving the Jaguars an early 7-0 lead.

Defensively Yannick Ngakoue registered a sack-fumble on Brissett, increasing his career sack total to 34.5. Josh Allen has totaled 8.0 sacks this season, tied with Ngakoue for the most by a rookie in Jaguars history.

D.J. Hayden took down Brissett in the second quarter, marking his second sack of the season.

The Colts’ Nyheim Hines added his first rushing score of the season on a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Wide receiver Marcus Johnson led Indianapolis in receiving with a career-high four receptions totaling 38 yards. He caught the second touchdown of his career on a one-yard pass from Brissett in the third quarter to give the Colts a 17-7 lead.

Kicker Adam Vinatieri convertedon a 34-yard field goal against Jacksonville.
