ECHL: Icemen Fall to Swamp Rabbits 6-1 on the Road

GREENVILLE, SC – Alexis D’Aoust scored for the Icemen in the second period but that wasn’t nearly enough offense as Greenville defeated Jacksonville 6-1 Friday night.

Greenville (2-0) opened up a 2-0 lead in the first period with a power-play goal. Adam Rockwood’s first of two goals on the night was a short handed tally with an assis by Mason Baptistamthat added to the deficit.

Patrick Bajkov, Cédric Lacroix and Adam Larkin rounded out the scoring for Greenville. Larkin’s was an empty netter.

Goaltender Jeremy Helvig took the loss in his first game with the Icemen. He played two periods and allowed four goals before Griffen Outhouse came on for final stanza.

Ryan Bednard got the win for Greenville.

The Icemen had 28 shots on goal to the Swamp Rabbits 30.

The road test continues for Jacksonville (0-2). The Icemen have two games against the Fort Wayne Komets and one in Orlando before returning home Oct. 30 to host Atlanta.

GAME NOTES: The Icemen were without defenseman Dajon Mingo…the game saw a total of 43 minutes in penalties…Jacksonville defenseman Nick Wright received a match penalty for intent to injure and and there were two fights…Pecararo scored first pro goal in last night’s win over Jacksonville… Swamp Rabbits lead the league with two shorthanded goals.

JET STREAMS: The Winnipeg Jets have recassigned defenseman Nelson Nogier to the Manitoba Moose. Nogier, 23, played in the first four Moose games this season and recorded an assist and four penalty minutes. The product of Saskatoon, Sask. played the 11th game of his NHL career on Dec. 4/18, his first action in the league since April of 2017 and he also played 74 games for the Moose in 2018-19 and recorded nine points (1G, 8A) and 48 PIMs. Nogier was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round (101st overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
