GOLF NOTES: JU Battles Through BUBBA Burger Jacksonville Classic

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville University women’s golf finished the 12th Annual BUBBA burger Jacksonville Classic with a sixth-place finish at Marsh Landing Country Club.

Sam Brimhall was the best team finisher for the Dolphins at T13. Nova Southeastern won the event with an 875.

“There were a lot of firsts this week, so a lot for us to learn from as a group,” said Head Coach Kathryn Dougan. “We’re looking forward to a few weeks to rest and work on our games before the Pat Bradley Invitational.

Brimhall parred eight holes, finishing with 31 for the event, while birdieing nine holes, tied for the fourth most in the field. She shot 1-over on Par-3s, tied for fifth-best in the field.

Hannah Berman and Elina Strmberg both posted a final round 77, tied for the best on the team Tuesday. Berman sank nine pars and birdied two holes while Strmberg also birdied two while parring 10 holes.

Paula Trejo Lerdo shot a third-straight sub-80 round, including 10 pars, and Maia Samuelsson wrapped with her second-straight 76, including two birdies. Trejo Lerdo was 1-under on Par-5s, which was tied for fourth in the field. She also led the team with 33 pars.

Freshman Hannah Conroy closed her first event with her best collegiate score, sinking three birdies en route to a 76, moving up six spots on the final day. Mawgan Vater had nine pars and a birdie in her final round as well.

JU was fourth-best in the field on Par-5s, shooting 4-over, made 156 team pars and 27 birdies.

Jacksonville has two weeks off before heading down to Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club for the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational on Oct. 20.
