ECHL: Jacksonville Icemen Begin Training Camp; Adds AHL Players


JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Icemen, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose, announced their 2019 Training Camp roster Monday.

High-scoring forward Alexis D’Aoust has been assigned to the Jacksonville by Manitoba.

The Icemen will opened their third training camp with a total of 25 players comprised of three goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards.

Prior to camp, the Icemen agreed to terms with defenseman Kyle Shapiro, forwards Ian McKinnon, Ryan Norman, Taylor Best and goalies Denys Tsaruk and Christoffer Hernberg.

In addition, the team added forward Cole Golka to a tryout contract.

D’Aoust, 23, returns to Jacksonville where he played a key role in the Icemen’s 5-0-0 start last season.

The 6-0, 201-pound winger initially recorded a whopping 12 points in five games played with Jacksonville last season before earning a call-up to Manitoba.

D’Aoust later returned to Jacksonville in March and finished the season with 15 points in 11 ECHL appearances. D’Aoust also scored a goal in his lone playoff appearance with the Icemen before suffering an injury.

D’Aoust has 32 career points (17g, 16a) in two AHL seasons split between Manitoba and the Utica Comets.

On Sunday four players were assigned to the team from Manitoba.

Hayden Shaw, 23, first joined the Icemen last spring after wrapping up his senior campaign at the University of North Dakota.

Shaw logged an assist in nine regular season games and added another assist in six postseason appearances with the Icemen. The 5-10, 190-pound blueliner totaled 37 points (10g, 27a) in 137 collegiate contests at North Dakota.

Graeme Craig, 26, concluded a three-year collegiate career at the University of Alberta where he totaled 41 points (18g, 23a) in 83 games from 2016-2019.

The 6-5, 202-pound defenseman chipped in ten points in 60 appearances with the ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors during the 2014-15 season. Craig also has appeared in six AHL games with the Oklahoma City Barons (2014-15).

Griffen Outhouse, 21, just closed out a four-year major junior career with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Victoria Royals. The 6-0, 180-pound netminder earned a 114-60-5 record with ten shutouts along with a 2.64 goals-against-average and a 0.920 save percentage.

Bobby Lynch, 21, had a 53-point season last year with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The 6-1, 173-pound forward compiled 76 points (30g, 46a) in 104 contests with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2016-2018.

The Icemen opened camp with:

Goalies – Denys Tsaruk, Christoffer Hernberg, Griffen Outhouse.

Defensemen – Kyle Shapiro, Mitch Jones, Dajon Ming, Jack Glover, Nick Wright, Hayden Shaw, Dalton Thrower, Graeme Craig.

Forwards – Chase Witala, Chase Lang, Emerson Clark, Beau McCue, Shane Walsh, Everett Clark, Ian McKinnon, Ryan Norman, Roman Uchyn, Garret Ross, Bobby Lynch, Cole Golka, Jacob Reichert, Taylor Best.

The Icemen will have their Blue-Black Exhibition Game on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5:15 at the at Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex.

Jacksonville opens the 2019-2020 season at home on Saturday, Oct. 12 against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Ticket packages are on sale now.
