Georgia-Florida Exhibition Baseball Part of ‘Duval Bold City Bash’

ATHENS—–Play Ball!

That’s what the University of Georgia and the University of Florida will do Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. on the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Gators will play host to the Bulldogs in a nine-inning exhibition game at the minor league ballpark that serves as home of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

For the second consecutive year, the NCAA is allowing schools to play two fall exhibition games, and they will not count against the 56-game spring schedule.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Georgia-Florida weekend in Jacksonville,” said Georgia’s Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin. “This is a great chance for our fans to get a preview of our 2020 baseball team and enjoy a night of college baseball in November.”

The City of Jacksonville announced Friday all the events for the inaugural “Duuuval’s Bold City Bash” – the ultimate Georgia-Florida fan experience. The Bash encompasses nearly a week of fan-centric interactive events that celebrate the tradition and excellence of one of the SEC’s biggest football rivalries that has called Jacksonville home since 1933. The Bash will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and continue through the football game day on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Kicking off the week is the opening of RV City on Tuesday, Oct. 29 where more than 100 RV’s will setup home for the entire weekend. Fans can enjoy hospitality amenities at the official Georgia-Florida Welcome followed by the opening of the Welcome Center on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Weekend festivities will begin Friday Nov. 1 with the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon.

The luncheon, to be held in the TIAA Bank West Club at noon, celebrates the successful achievement of both teams and recognizes one of the nation’s premier collegiate rivalries.

Immediately following the Hall of Fame Luncheon, fans can participate in various interactive experiences as well as check out a new and improved curated Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Exhibit at Fan Fare at the Daily’s Place Flex Field. The Fan Fare is free to the public and will open at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

The fan experience continues on Friday evening with a block party along Adams Street and A. Philip Randolph Boulevard. The streets will come alive with two stages of live music, sponsor activations with various free giveaways, food trucks featuring Jacksonville’s best eats, a beer garden with local brews and more interactive experiences. The block party opens at 4 p.m. and is free to the public.
