TALLAHASSEE – After an opening game 24-3 loss to Virginia Tech, Florida State(0-1)  looks to rebound against a talented Samford (1-0) team looking to be the first FCS school to topple the Noles.

Playing his first competitive game since a season-ending injury in 2017 opener, quarterback Deondre Francois threw for 233 yards on 22 completions against No. 20 Virginia Tech.

Running back Cam Akers broke off an 85-yard run from the FSU 9-yard line against Virginia Tech, the longest non-touchdown run in Florida State history.

Against Virginia Tech on Labor Day, Florida State’s defense forced nine punts and held the Hokies rushing attack to 2.8 yards per carry

Florida State and Samford have met twice previously – in 1950 and 2010. FSU won both meetings.

The Seminoles opened the 2010 campaign against the Bulldogs, topping Samford 59-6 on September 4 of that season.

FSU has won 13 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents, recording perfect records each season since 2013.

Samford enters the game 1-0 after topping Division II Shorter 66-9 in the opener for both teams.
