NBA: Orlando Magic Unveil 30Years of Pure Magic

As part of the Orlando Magic’s 30th anniversary celebration this upcoming season, the team is unveiling a commemorative logo and throwback Nike Classic Edition jersey to tip off the season-long festivities.

The Magic’s 30th anniversary season will be a celebration of rich history, legendary moments and the iconic identity as Orlando’s basketball team.

The commemorative logo features a nod to the team’s birth year in 1989, incorporating the original iconic basketball with cascading stars in the design.

In addition, the team will feature a classic, the blue pinstripe uniform, worn from 1994-1998. The pinstripes are a quintessential Orlando Magic uniform feature, getting its start in 1989 and worn over the years by Magic legends including Shaquille O’Neal, Penny Hardaway, Dennis Scott, Horace Grant, Darrell Armstrong and Nick Anderson.

The uniform pays homage to its roots also featuring the original “Orlando” across the front with the star replacing the “a.” The classic jerseys will be worn in select Magic games this upcoming season.

“The Orlando Magic are thrilled to celebrate 30 years of Pure Magic with all of our fans and the great City of Orlando,” said Magic CEO Alex Martins. “The team’s history and identity is deeply rooted in this city and the Central Florida region. We want to thank all of our fans for all of their support and making all these great Magic memories and moments possible. We look forward to sharing this celebration with them.”

Over the past 30 years the team has seen five division championships, seven 50-plus win seasons, two Eastern Conference titles, two NBA Finals appearances and its off-the-court work including donating $2 million annually to the community through sponsorship of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise and grants.
