SOCCER: The Miami FC 2 Edges Naples Late to Earn Three Points on the Road

The Miami FC 2 was on the road, Wednesday night, to take on Naples United with just three matches left this season. A back and forth battle between the two Sunshine Conference foes ended with MFC 2 defender Mason Trafford netting the match-winner late in the proceedings.

The first half saw the Miami FC 2 create a multitude of chances but a strong performance by the Naples keeper would keep them off the board.

MFC 2’s first great chance came in the 21st minute when Dario Suárez played in a great cross to a streaking Jaime Chávez but it was just out of the striker’s reach.

Suárez would come up big again in the 32nd minute earning a penalty after easily dribbling past his defender and getting taken down in the box.

It would be Chávez who would step up to the spot but his penalty was stopped by the diving keeper’s foot. A rebound chance would fall for Chávez but it would go over the crossbar.

Some great keeping was need in the 44th minute. A turnover in the midfield lead to a 1v1 chance for Naples but Vega was up to the task and snuffed out the danger, sending both sides into the locker room tied at 0-0.

A physical second half would see both squads create chances until the final whistle.
Some smart play in the 55th minute nearly but MFC 2 ahead as a quick start off a foul put Don Smart 1v1 with the keeper only to see the shot saved.

The Orange and Blue would continue to use strong passing to create scoring opportunities but aggressive goalkeeping would keep MFC 2 at bay.

The breakthrough would finally come for The Miami FC 2 in the 86th minute. Smart whipped in a fantastic cross from the right flank and found Trafford in the center of the box who guided the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

Just before the final whistle blew, A Naples cross end with a strong header that forced Vega in to a tough save to secure the Miami FC 2’s 1-0 victory.
