Rain suspends Jumbo Shrimp and Biscuits Thursday

Shrimp right-hander Jeff Brigham and Montgomery Biscuits right-hander J.D. Martin dueled for scoreless baseball before rain suspended play with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday and Teach Appreciation Night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Thursday’s game is scheduled to be resumed at 5:05 p.m. Friday, June 29, with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The game will be completed to a full nine innings, followed by a seven-inning game, which will start no earlier than 7:05 p.m. Regular individual tickets for Thursday’s game may be exchanged at the box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining regular season home game

The Miami Marlins announced transaction that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster . Left-handed relief pitcher Chris Reed has been transferred from Single-A Greensboro to Jacksonville. Reed pitched in three games for the Grasshoppers in relief, going 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in five innings of work.

Reed was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent on April 20, after he had spent last year in retirement. Reed previously pitched for Jacksonville in 2016, going 1-0 with a 3.07 ERA in four appearances and two starts. In 2015, Reed pitched in two games in the major leagues for the Marlins, with no wins or losses and a 4.50 ERA.

Right-handed pitcher Kolton Mahoney has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Mahoney pitched in 17 games and made seven starts for the Jumbo Shrimp, going 3-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 54 innings of work.
