ECHL: Icemen’s Home Finale Ends in 4-2 Loss to Florida

JACKSONVILLE – The inaugural home season for the Jacksonville Icemen ended Friday night in a 4-2 loss against league-leading Florida before 8,326 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Jacksonville has dropped two in a row to the Everblades and will meet them one more time Saturday on the road in the season finale.

Florida’s Sam Warning opened the scoring in the first period,

Trailing 1-0 Jacksonville got goals from Tanner Eberle and Cody Fowlie to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second stanza.

But the Everblades’ Steven Lorentz  would tie the game with his 12th goal of the season. Then Michael Kirkpatrick scored his 18th goal of the year for the lead and win.

Mitchell Heard added an insurance tally in the final period.

Jacksonville’s Austin Lotz stopped 25 shots. Florida backup goaltender Josh Robinson made 19 saves.
