BASEBALL: JU Dolphins Even Up Series With UNF After 7-2 Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida baseball team fell to Jacksonville, 7-2, on Friday night at John Sessions Stadium in ASUN play.

Tanner Murphy paced the Ospreys offense with a pair of solo homers to provide the lone offense. It marked the second straight weekend that Murphy had a two homer game as he did it last weekend against FAMU. Murphy extended his hit streak to six with the two homers.

JU got on the board first in the third with an RBI single. Murphy responded with solo homer to left to tie the game at one apiece.

The Dolphins though quickly responded with a three-run double in the fourth before tacking on three in the fifth to take a lead they would not relinquish. Murphy in the ninth would go yard one more time down the left field line to make it a 7-2 game which would be the final.

UNF’s Jay Prather has reached base safely in 14 straight games, while Blake Voyles extended his streak to six in a row.

The Ospreys conclude the weekend series tomorrow at 2 p.m. against the Dolphins.
