GOLF: JAGA Spring Four-Ball Sees 40 Teams Compete

The Jacksonville Area Golf Association’s first team event of 2018, the JAGA Spring Four-Ball, was hosted on Monday at Marsh Landing Country Club, with 40 teams competing over four divisions. New this year was a Scratch Division, which drew 16 teams and some of North Florida’s most accomplished golfers.

Marsh Landing member George Halvorsen served as Tournament Chairman and was supported in that role by fellow members Ray Cabano and John Tancredi.

Though the skies were threatening late in the afternoon round, play was completed on schedule. The following are the flight-by-flight results:

In addition to the team prizes (Marsh Landing golf shop certificates), gift cards from top-area restaurants – Bonefish Grill, Caffe’ Andiamo, European Street Cafe, Nona Blue, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and 3 Palms Grille at Oak Bridge Club – were presented as drawing prizes.

NEXT UP FOR JAGA…The 61st JAGA Senior Amateur Championship will be played at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, April 16-18. Entries to date have been steady. The field features three divisions (age 50+, 60-69 and 70+) and a maximum of 78 players. Entries for the Championship close next April 11th, so interested competitors who have not already done so, should sign up soon at WWW.JAXAREAGOLF.ORG. European Street Cafe is the tournament sponsor.

ABOUT JAGA

Established in 1954, JAGA celebrates its 65th year in 2018. It is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (4) corporation comprised of over 40-member golf clubs located in the Northeast Florida area. JAGA’s mission is to promote golf and goodwill through tournaments and related events and activities. It conducts 10 tournaments, including six championship events and five others that feature team formats.  JAGA manages a scholarship program that currently provides college funding for 25 area students. Since 1974 the program has generated approximately $1.75 million in financial aid to approximately 350 students.
