JACKSONVILLE — Atlanta’s Lindsay Sparks’ power play goal gave the Gladiators a 2-1 ECHL victory over Jacksonville Thursday night at Veterans Memorial Arena. Atlanta also took the Sunday rematch in Georgia 4-2.

The IceMen fell to 3-11-1-0. The Gladiators improved to 19-6-1-1.

The Jacksonville IceMen were trying to win two straight for the first time this season and led most of the game Thursday. Jimmy Lodge scored his third goal in the last two games to put Jacksonville ahead 1-0.

Lodge found the net as Atlanta goaltender Sean Bonar was reaching for his lost stick at the 7:35 mark of the second period. Christopher Dienes and Dajon Mingo assisted on the score.

The visitors knotted in the game on Alex Gacek’s seventh goal of the season. Ben Marshall and Luke Sandler got the assists.

Trailing the Gladiators 3-0 on Sunday,  Lodge found Ryan Graham alone in front of the net for Jacksonville’s first goal of the game. Minutes later, Lodge would steal the puck and then find Graham once again all alone to bring the deficit to one.

But with 5:32 to play, Derek Nesbitt scored to put the game away. Jacksonville entered the final period 0-4-1-0 this season when trailing after the first two periods.

Brady Vail, Ben Danford and Gacek scored for the Gladiators to open the game.

The IceMen host Orlando Tuesday night at Veterans Memorial Arena. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
