JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars won their third consecutive games and advanced to 6-3 on the season after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers, 20-17, in overtime Sunday at EverBank Field.

The win marked Jacksonville’s first time with three consecutive victories since the 2013 season, and the Jaguars are now three games over .500 for the first time since the 2010 season (8-5).

Jaguars’ kicker Josh Lambo made two field goals, including one for 34 yards to send the game into OT with seven seconds remaining in regulation, and the game-winner from 30 yards in overtime. Lambo has now made all seven attempts with the Jaguars and has made 59 of 71 career three-pointers.

After Jacksonville’s Matt Overton went down with a shoulder injury in the third quarter and was ruled out,  Tyler Shatley took over the snapping duties on field goal situations and fullback Tommy Bohanon snapped for the remaining punts. This was Shatley’s first time snapping in a game, as he never snapped in high school or college.

After punting on the opening series of overtime, the Jaguars had the Chargers in a third-and-nine situation at their own 11-yard line. On the Philip Rivers pass, A.J. Bouye intercepted the ball at the Jacksonville 47 and returned it 51 yards to the Los Angeles 2-yard line. After a taunting penalty and three plays, the Jaguars won the game on Lambo’s leg.

The pick was Bouye’s third of the season and ninth of his career. Bouye has registered at least one pass defensed in eight of nine games this season and he’s posted 20 passes defensed in his last 13 games, including the postseason. Bouye has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

In the first quarter, Corey Grant took a fake punt 56 yards for a TD. Wide receiver Marqise Lee caught six passes for 55 yards and one TD against the Chargers. Lee also caught the two-point conversion that evened the score at 14 in the third quarter.

QB Blake Bortles completed 28 of 51 passes for 273 yards, one score and two interceptions. Bortles has now thrown for 240-plus passing yards in three consecutive games, all wins.

After forcing a punt on the Chargers’ first offensive possession, the Jaguars defense has held the opponent scoreless on the opening possession in eight of nine games in 2017. The only points the Jaguars defense has allowed on their opponents’ opening possession this season came on a field at Pittsburgh.

Linebacker Telvin Smith finished the game with nine tackles, including one tackle for loss. Smith leads the team with 71 tackles in 2017 and he’s registered 380 tackles (294 solo).

JAGUARS NOTE: Rookie running back Leonard Fournette rushed 17 times for 33 yards  and caught two passes for 13 yards. Fournette has now rushed for 629 yards this season, the fourth-most in a season in franchise history…..linebackerMyles Jack tied for the team lead with nine tackles (eight solo) and has registered at least six tackles in seven of nine games this season….Jacksonville is tied with the Tennessee Titans (6-3) for first place in the division. Houston is 3-6 and Indianapolis is 3-7.
