ECHL: Jacksonville IceMen Tweak Upcoming Home Schedule

The Jacksonville IceMen have agreed to move two of their home dates to assist with two important community programs.

The Wednesday, November 15th game against the defending Eastern Conference Champions, the South Carolina Stingrays will now be played a day earlier (Tuesday, November 14th) at 10:30am against Stingrays. This is the IceMen’s School Field Trip Day (combining hockey and education) and the move from Wednesday to Tuesday at the request of schools.

The IceMen have also moved the Friday, February 9th game against South division rivals, the Atlanta Gladiators to Thursday, February 1st against Atlanta. February 9th is the date that Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and hosted collectively by many area churches, needed the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena for their annual event which creates an unforgettable prom night experience for people with special needs.

“Night to Shine provides a lifetime of memories for some very special people,” said Bob Ohrablo, President of the Jacksonville IceMen. “We thank the Atlanta Gladiators for understanding and agreeing to the schedule revision. We are excited not only to be able to accommodate the Night to Shine organizers, but also allowing the IceMen and our team to be a part of the event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.”

“We want to thank the owners, management, players and fans of the IceMen for moving their game to accommodate Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, hosted by the Jacksonville Collaboration,” said Juanita Hamilton of the Night to Shine Jacksonville Collaboration Planning Committee. “We recognize this is a sacrifice to support the event and to honor our guests. All of the area churches supporting the event are very grateful to the IceMen. This will be the second year Night to Shine is hosted at Jacksonville Memorial Arena and the arena is a great partner.”

At first ever School Education Game Day each child will receive an educational workbook, a discounted ticket to the game, an IceMen gift, and lunch.

The IceMen will provide an educational experience that teaches students how hockey relates to everyday classroom subjects.
