JAGA: Crouch, Collins Claim Co-Medalist Honors in Match Play Championship Qualifier

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A.J. Crouch of San Jose Country Club and Jeffry Collins of Atlantic Beach Country Club carded rounds of even-par 72 to claim co-medalist honors on Sunday in the Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) Match Play Championship Qualifier, played at the World Golf Village-Slammer & Squire course.

Thirty players in all earned spots into the seventh JAGA Match Play Championship, which begins with 16 first-round matches on Friday (June 2) at TPC Sawgrass-Dye’s Valley course.

Rounding out the 32-player field will be 2016 champion Michael Smith of TPC Sawgrass and 2016 runner-up Sam Uhland, also of TPC Sawgrass, who were exempt from having to qualify.

Couch and Collins were the only two players in a very strong field of 55 to match par at the 6,906-yard Slammer & Squire layout.

Three tied for third at 73 – Len Schonfeld III of Deerwood Country Club and Alex Dienes and Trey Sanders, both of Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

The cutoff to earn a spot in the match-play portion was 80, based on a match of scorecards.

The match play schedule for later this week at TPC Sawgrass is:

Friday, June 2                PM: 16 First-round matches
Saturday, June 3            AM: 8 Second-round matches
PM: 4 Quarterfinal matches
Sunday, June 4              AM: Semifinal matches
PM: Finals match & 3rd/4th-place match
