ARENA: Jacksonville Sharks Look to Break Franchise Record

JACKSONVILLE –  The (6-0) Jacksonville Sharks have currently tied their best start in franchise history with their win last week against the (3-3) Columbus Lions.

With one more win, they will surpass that record and become the first Sharks team to go 7-0 in franchise history.

They look to take on the winless Corpus Christi Rage for the very first time on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Shark Tank for Military Appreciation Night.

Jacksonville proved to be the toughest team in the National Arena League last Saturday against Columbus as they battled the incredibly physical team with only four days to prepare due to their prior Monday night game in Monterrey.

Despite playing without their star quarterback Tommy Grady, who suffered an ankle injury in the Monterrey game the Sharks still pulled out a 37-28 win against the Lions with QB Damien Flemming under center.

This was the closest game the Sharks have encountered all season, starting the first quarter behind 10-7 before the Sharks rallied to take and maintain a lead for the rest of the game.

The Rage most recently played the Georgia Firebirds where they lost 76-26. This is the first year the Rage is a team, being one of the founding teams in the National Arena League. Tim Gay of the Rage is ranked second in the league for yards per rush with 5.2. Corpus Christi will look to fight for their first win of the season.

For the Sharks to win this game, they will have to rely on their defense to stop the rush and have their high-scoring offense take over if they’re able to stop the Rage from scoring.
