UNF: Ospreys Grounded by Owls, 85-68

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s basketball team got a huge 85-68 Saturday victory over the North Florida Ospreys in the KSU Convocation Center.

It was a complete team effort for the Owls as the team had 27 assists on 35 field goals for the game setting a new single-game assist record.

Kennesaw State started the game on a 23-2 to run in the first 10 minutes of action taking a commanding lead over the Ospreys.

UNF didn’t lay over though as they began mounting a comeback chipping the lead down to nine as they trailed 42-33 at the break.

In the second half, North Florida cut the lead down to five four times, but Kennesaw State didn’t let them get any closer than that.

Leading by six with just over five minutes to go, two Tyler Hooker steals fueled a thunderous dunk from Jordan Jones and a layup by Hooker to spur on a 9-0 run to push the lead back up to 15 with under three to play ending any chance of an Osprey victory.

Jones had a career night pulling down a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also dished out five assists.

He wasn’t the only one filling up the stat sheet as Kendrick Ray finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Nick Masterson had 16 points as well with a career high eight assists on the night.

The Owls offense wasn’t the only thing clicking on Saturday night as KSU held North Florida’s leading scorer Dallas Moore to 15 points. Coming into the game, he was second in the NCAA scoring 24.1 points per game.
