The Florida State Men’s Golf team tied for seventh in the season-opening Sea Best Invitational as the final round finished on Tuesday afternoon at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Redshirt senior Cristobal Del Solar continued his efficiency all around the course, finishing 1-under overall (70-67-72) to place seventh among all individuals. Del Solar’s Top 10 finish is the eighth of his career. He was also one of just seven golfers to finish under par in the tournament.
“While the result was not up to our standards, there are always positives that you can take from every tournament,” FSU head coach Trey Jones said. “The guys prepared well going into the event. The important thing is to trust what we are doing, not look for quick fixes, and results will come.
“There is nothing more important than confidence and we are not where we need to be in that area.”
Florida won the Sea Best Invitational at 4-under overall, shooting 4-over in the final round to preserve the win. Lipscomb (+5) finished second, followed by Liberty (+9), Arkansas (+13), North Carolina (+15) and host Jacksonville (+17) in sixth.
Tying with FSU was UNF (+18), followed by Tennessee (+23), Campbell (+35), SMU (+41), East Carolina (+46), Charleston Southern (+57), Winthrop (+75) and USC Upstate (+82).
Senior Josh Lee tied for 25th after shooting a 3-over 73 in the final round on Tuesday. The Orange Park, Fla., native shot a 7-over 217 overall and preserved an even-par 35 on the back nine of the final round.

Ellis continued his marksmanship on par 3 holes, tying for third among all golfers at 2-under for the whole tournament. FSU posted an average score of 3.03 (2-over) on par 3s, and finished third overall with 179 total pars.
