UNF: Ospreys Fall in MABC Championship Game

FAIRBORN, Ohio – The Wright State men’s basketball team hit 11 three-pointers, seven in the first half, and went on to claim the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic Presented by Premier Health title with a 75-67 win over North Florida Sunday at the Wright State Nutter Center.

Dallas Moore’e 29-point effort came up just short. Moore was the squad’s leading scorer in all three games of the event averaging 22.7 PPG.

Senior Aaron Bodager (4-8 3PM) and freshman Wajid Aminu (7-9 FGM) joined Moore in double digits finishing with 14 points apiece. Grant Benzinger, named Tournament MVP, paced the Raiders’ offense attack with 21 points including 5 treys.

Wright State scored the game’s first six points before watching the Ospreys surge back with the next 10 points, highlighted by six from Moore and back-to-back treys by Bodager.

UNF used a 7-0 spurt minutes later to extend their lead to 19-11 with just over 11 minutes left in the half.

The Raiders responded with a 14-2 run, capped by a pair of three-pointers from Stephen Davis, to retake the lead. North Florida again regained the lead with six straight points.

WSU closed the opening stanza on a 15-4 surge, featuring a stretch of 12 unanswered points including three triples in a row. Moore netted a pair of buckets in the final minute to trim the Osprey deficit to 40-31 at the halftime break.

The Ospreys started the second half with a flurry outscoring WSU, 11-4, to pull within two points at 44-42 with 12:31 remaining in the game. Moore and Aminu fueled with rally by recording 4 points each on either side of a trey from Bodager.

Benzinger connected on a pair of “3” during an 8-3 spurt by WSU that widened their lead and then added two more treys in a 12-7 run minutes later as the Raiders built a 12-point lead, 67-55, at the 3:13 mark.

Moore scored 6 of 10 points for UNF in a 10-2 run that closed the gap to just four points with under a minute left, but Wright State was able to go 6-6 from the FT line in the closing moments to secure the victory.
