JU Sports Information

MACON, Ga. – A duo of Dolphins from Jacksonville University took home the Atlantic Sun Player and Pitcher of the Week honors on Apr. 25. Sam Armstrong was named the Player of the Week and Spencer Stockton was named the Pitcher of the Week.

It is the first time that each player has earned his respective honor, and marks the third consecutive week that a Dolphin has been named Pitcher of the Week after Nathan Disch held the title two weeks running.

Armstrong, a sophomore third baseman from Ocala, Fla., hit a 12th inning three-run walk-off home run on Saturday night to beat FGCU. He also hit a two-run home run in Sunday’s victory. He totaled seven RBI in Jacksonville’s first ever weekend sweep of the Eagles, and had multiple RBI in three of the week’s four games. Armstrong batted .333 in 15 at-bats.

Stockton, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Wellington, Fla., tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 Sunday win vs. FGCU. He did not allow a baserunner in the final three frames and finished with only one walk and two strikeouts. The mound artist moved to 5-3 on the year while lowering his ERA to 2.93.

Jacksonville (25-14, 7-2) continues A-Sun play after final exams with a three-game series at Stetson beginning Friday, Apr. 29.
