COLLEGE BOWL NEWS: USF’s Davis and Kloss To Play In East-West Shrine Game

TAMPA, Fla., December. 30, 2014 – USF will have a pair of record-setting representatives in the 90th East-West Shrine Game as wide receiver Andre Davis of Tampa and kicker Marvin Kloss of Naples both accepted invitations to participate in the Jan. 17 game played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
A Bay Area native who earned his communications degree in December, Davis completed his outstanding USF career as the owner of 13 Bulls’ receiving records including career marks for receptions (153), receiving yards (2,136), receiving touchdowns (17), six career 100-yard receiving games and 38 consecutive games played with a reception.

Despite missing four games due to a sternum injury in 2014, Davis was named USF Team MVP after posting 36 catches for 594 yards and a team-record tying seven touchdowns.
Kloss set program records with 13-straight made field goals and four field goals of 50 yards or longer and earned the nickname “Money” by becoming the Bulls’ all-time career field goal percentage leader hitting 77.5 percent (31-of-40).

He made seven of the 15 longest field goals in school history and scored 131 career points to rank fifth among USF place kickers all-time. Kloss also became the program’s first national award finalist as he was selected a finalist for the 2013 Lou Groza Placekicker Award after leading the nation with 11 field goals of 40 or more yards.

The pair will play for the East Team coached by NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection with the Chicago Bears.  The game, which kicks off at 4:00 p.m., will be televised live on the NFL Network. Tickets for the game are $15.
